Namaste Hut, a vegetarian and vegan cafe based at The Enterprise Centre on the University of East Anglia (UEA) campus, opened its doors to the public this week.
Namaste, a well-established, local company, will provide only vegetarian and vegan fresh global food and drink, a first for UEA. Customers will be able to choose from a range of snacks to grab “on the go” as well as breakfast choices, salad bowls, hot options and specials. A selection of coffees will be available to drink in or to go from local coffee company Java Bean.
Sijay Jetani, Director of Namaste and graduate of Norwich Business School at UEA, said: ‘We are very much looking forward to this new partnership. As a former graduate of Norwich Business School, it feels like a dream come true. We are hopeful that this partnership will be a leading example of low carbon footprint and modern ethos.”
Namaste’s position as a vegetarian company is a natural fit with the sustainability ethos of The Enterprise Centre, the greenest building in the UK. Having experienced such rapid expansion in the last eight years, Namaste is also synonymous with the entrepreneurial spirit of The Enterprise Centre community. These points, together with the fact that vegetarian and veganism are an increasingly popular health choice, mean hopes are high for a very successful new venture.
Fearn Ainsworth, Commercial Services Manager for The Enterprise Centre, commented: “As an organisation we are very aware that people are increasingly concerned about both their impact on the environment and their health and wellbeing. We feel that Namaste is a great fit for the building community and UEA and we are delighted to be leading the way in sustainable catering and hospitality.”
