Local business purchases fuel efficient Mercedes Benz trucks

A few months after purchasing their first Mercedes Benz truck, SRC Aggregates have returned to Orwell Truck & Van to place an order for a further 5 Mercedes 8 x 4 Arocs.

The family-owned operator was particularly impressed by the outstanding economy of the Aroc truck, returning just over 8.5 mpg, three-tenths of a gallon ahead of the ‘best of the rest’.

SRC Aggregates Transport Director, Clint Layzell, says; “We’d not run Mercedes-Benz trucks before, so took a bit of a gamble when we ordered our first Arocs. It’s certainly paid off, though, because that truck has been the most fuel-efficient eight-wheeler on the fleet – it’s at least 0.3 mpg ahead of our established vehicles, which is pretty impressive”.

Clint continues; “We’ve only been running trucks for the past five years, prior to which it was just earthmovers and other plant. In addition to their other attributes, the Arocs look great and complements the clean, modern image of our company that we’re endeavouring to present.”

All of the vehicles that SRC have acquired from Orwell Truck & Van are the subject of Mercedes-Benz Complete Service Contracts and are being inspected and maintained at Orwell Truck & Van’s workshop.
