Grant Thornton invests in Norwich with three senior promotions

Three promotions have been made at the Norwich office of financial and business advisers Grant Thornton as the firm continues to enhance its expert offering across Norfolk and the wider region.

Tim Barnes steps up to the role of Senior Manager in the Audit team having joined the firm in May last year.

He previously spent over 12 years with another international advisory group based in Norwich where he started as a graduate and quickly progressed through the ranks.

In his new role with Grant Thornton, Tim will continue to work with a portfolio of larger and international businesses across a range of sectors from manufacturing and financial services to technology, communications and offshore services, while drawing on his extensive local knowledge to further enhance and expand the services Grant Thornton offers.

Tim will also take a greater role in producing and enhancing Grant Thornton’s annual Norfolk Limited reports which have become a key part of Norfolk’s business calendar, having researched and prepared the 2018 report and presented the findings at the launch event.

James Organ has also been promoted to Senior Manager in the Audit team.

James joined the Norwich office as a graduate in 2010 and has since built up a strong skills set supporting privately owned businesses and large corporates, with particular expertise in the Motor Retail sector.

As part of his new remit, James will also support skills development within the Audit team and help nurture talent as part of Grant Thornton’s long term investment in its people.

James Youngs is the third promotion at Grant Thornton’s Norwich office and takes on the role of Audit Manager.

James joined the firm eight years ago as a trainee through the firm’s strongly established school leaver programme and qualified in January 2016.

During his time at Grant Thornton, James has supported a wide variety of businesses from smaller owner-managed businesses through to international corporates, advising on financial systems and process improvements to maximise growth opportunities.

As a Manager, James will use his own experience to play an integral role in recruiting new talent to the firm, helping to ensure Grant Thornton continues to attract the very best people in the region.

Commenting on the three promotions, Tim Taylor, Audit Partner said: “James, Tim and James all joined Grant Thornton via different paths but have collectively demonstrated their commitment to providing a high quality, professional and personal service. People are the most important part of any professional services business and we will continue to invest in our team and encourage talent to ensure clients receive the best possible advice and support to fulfil their growth potential.”
