Young Norfolk cricket club take to the crease with sponsorship deal

Norfolk cricket clubs under 17s girls county team are starting a busy season of matches – after a local firm of accountants renewed their sponsorship of the team for a third year running.

The team has a season ahead of them that’ll keep them on their toes, with matches planned against Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and a Cricket East Team stretching across the next three months.

Team manager Pete Free, who played for Norfolk cricket team between 2000 and 2008, said, “Interest in women’s cricket is growing hugely, and it is really important for us to have the support of local firms like Lovewell Blake, which helps us complete our winter training programme and fulfil a complete season of matches, supporting the development of our talented youngsters.

“Because of Lovewell Blake’s continued support, we were able to run a separate winter cricket training programme for the Under 17s squad. The effect this has is evident from the fact that two members of last year’s squad have now been offered places at first-class counties.

“A strong county side is also crucial to motivating women’s and girls’ cricket at club and school level, which is where new players will come through to join the county squad.”
