Berry Donation Helps Keep Beccles Litter Pickers Safe

The latest donation of hi-visibility vests by Beccles-based Berry M&H is helping younger members of a local volunteer litter picking group to keep safe as they strive to make their outdoor spaces litter-free.

The Beccles Bombles were set up and are run by local Green Party East Suffolk councillors. After lockdown curtailed its work somewhat during 2020, when the group became active again as restrictions were lifted, it saw an upsurge in volunteers as a result of people taking regular daily exercise closer to home. In particular, the number of younger members joining led to the establishment of a new junior group alongside the adult volunteers.

Berry M&H had originally donated hi-vis vests to the adult group two years ago and stepped in to provide smaller vests for the new young recruits to help them feel part of the team.

Councillors from the local Green Party gratefully received the donations. Councillor Caroline Topping commented: “As a group, we hugely appreciate the ongoing support of Berry M&H, who have been wonderful in supplying both the initial hi-vis which explained to members of the public who we are and what we are doing whilst keeping us safe, and also now for our junior group as well. It really makes them feel part of something bigger, supporting the wonderful work the adult group is doing.”
