Flagship staff deliver food boxes in time for Christmas

For a fourth year, every team within Flagship Group is supporting the campaign by filling and decorating a food box.

During December every team within the Flagship Group is supporting their charitable campaign by delivering boxes full of non-perishable items to those in need. The charities include The Trussell Trust, St Martins and the Woodbridge Salvation Army. Over the last three years, Flagship Group has delivered over 100 boxes to local charities.

Deputy Chief Executive Helen Walsham said, “As with previous years, we’ve had a fantastic response across the business. I am really pleased we’re able to do something that makes a difference to those who may not be as fortunate as us. As a housing association, our purpose is to provide homes for people in need. By working with likeminded charities that do so much for our communities, we’re able to offer a little more and put a smile on someone’s face”.

Once the boxes have been delivered, each charity will distribute them among people in their communities.

Hannah Worsley, Project Manager at the Norwich Foodbank said “over the last three years, staff across Flagship have provided us with the equivalent of over 300 meals to local people referred to us in crisis. In December 2018, we gave out over 900 food parcels, each providing the recipient with

three days of food. In December 2019, we expect to give out over 1,000 food parcels as demand has increased month by month so this support from Flagship is really appreciated.”

Leader of the Woodbridge Salvation Army Alan Hill said: “Our foodbank provides relief for those in need throughout the year, but at Christmas, more families find themselves requiring help. This year we have already had an extra five families contact us and we know that there will be more. Flagship’s help allows us to help others in need”.

Dr Jan Sheldon, CEO of St Martins said: “On behalf of the people we support I’d like to thank Flagship for the thoughtfully chosen donations, they are very much appreciated. At St Martins we support around 200 people every day, including people in hostel accommodation and those in the community. This can be difficult time of year for them and the gifts help them feel valued and remembered”.
